Machinist's hammer with a soft (delrin) side and a hard (aluminum) side made completely on a manual lathe. Made as a personal project and to practice hitting dimensions on the lathe!
Test stand designed for static fires of solid, liquid, and hybrid rockets at a collegiate level. The objective of the design of this stand is to withstand the structural, thermal, and vibrational loading experienced during testing. The stand is 6 feet tall and constructed from modular T slot aluminum extrusion. An S type load cell is used along with a LabJack T7 data acquisition system which can measure thrust, temperature, and pressure at a high sample rate. This project was completed as a part of the senior design course at NYU Tandon.
Designed, developed, and tested custom landing gear to fit inside a 6" diameter nose cone and reliably deploy in under 30 seconds. Four 3D printed stainless steel bay covers retain the outer shape of the nose cone during ascent and serve as landing feet upon touch down. The deployment is actuated by a 1/4"-20 threaded lead screw and NEMA 17 stepper motor controlled by a flight computer on board the payload module.
